Justin Timberlake – Supplies (Music Video Review)

So, here we are again! Another new Justin Timberlake single assisted by a video! He’s definitely ready to make 2018 his year of music. And here we have the latest offering, the Pharrell Williams assisted “Supplies”.

This song first appeared in his trailer for the “Man of the Woods” announcement. This song sounds very different to his last effort “Filthy” over a smooth beat that switches into a modern pop beat halfway through, Justin Timberlake proves again why he a mastermind at matching the beat with his vocals. The song speaks about how a girl does not need to wait, as he has the supplies. And, you can try to argue against him, but Justin Timberlake is one of the hottest artists periods. The single is very pro-female and you can hear him throw support for a woman in the modern age.

The video for this song is definitely going to be the talking point. With a main focus on the woman empowerment movement highlighting images of Kevin Spacey in the opening scene, the future is female, images of Harvey Weinstein, and Donald Trump next to images of female empowerment. The whole video is basically a strong co-sign for the “Me-too” movement. As well as focusing on woman empowerment, Justin seems to be tackling racism and terrorism, with images of “we are people, not terrorists” appearing. Justin Timberlake definitely seems to be going at the “Elite” in this video, with the first scene looking like something from the elite district in The Hunger Games, the Illuminati being destroyed and the world is born again with female rulers.

The only that I can’t help but notice, wasn’t this the same Justin Timberlake that was sexualising woman at the end of the last video “Filthy” albeit it was a robot, it later appeared he was the robot. Or maybe that’s the message he is portraying? We have not had any country music yet, but you can guess that will be appearing soon. What do you make of it?
